(and I've got you.)
Jillian is a doer. She's strategic. She's an idealist in the best possible way. Jillian has worked for years to make systems work for the most vulnerable of us, and she is ready to kick some ass whenever anyone tells her something can’t be done.

Knowledge is power. Understanding what to expect helps you navigate the twists and turns of labor with more ease. I’ll help you sort fact from fluff so you can stop the scroll and focus on what actually makes an impact.
There's no one right way to give birth. Together, we'll take the evidence and filter it through your values, preferences, and lived experience to create a birth plan that works for you.
Babies change everything. I'll help you prepare your heart and mind so you can approach birth with confidence, flexibility, and self-compassion.

Jillian Carpenter found her way to birthwork in 2018 while pregnant with her first daughter. Nearly a decade later, she’s supported hundreds of families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum—attending over 150 births across diverse settings, preferences, and outcomes. As co-founder of MSP Doulas, Jillian provides in-person birth doula support in Minnesota and offers virtual classes, coaching, and resources to families nationwide.
Rooted in Reproductive Justice and trauma-informed care, Jillian blends head and heart in her approach—pairing research and modern medicine with cultural wisdom, intuition, and self-knowledge. She holds an M.A. in Multicultural College Teaching and Learning, making evidence-based information and meeting people where they're at core values.
Her own birth experiences—a three-day hospital induction and a candlelit home waterbirth—taught her that there’s no single “right” way to give birth, and personal experiences with pregnancy loss, infertility, anxiety, neurodivergence, and weight bias in healthcare have expanded her perspective. She firmly believes all bodies are good bodies, Black Lives Matter, and Queer families are beautiful.
Jillian is certified through Commonsense Childbirth as a full spectrum doula, perinatal educator, and breastfeeding counselor. She has advanced training in VBAC, fetal positioning, and social justice. Jillian gives back locally as a Board Member for the Childbirth Collective (501c3) in the Twin Cities, and by early 2026, she will complete training as an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor.
At home, Jillian is mom to Lottie and Evangeline, partner to Jack, and food-bowl-filler to their dog (Moose) and calico cats (Butterscotch and Sundae). She's constantly reminded that it’s okay for life to be a little messy as long as it’s a lot meaningful.

Leggings, oversized sweater, mom bun.
All day, every day.
Myth: Birth plans are about control.
Fact: Birth plans are about communication and consent.
Sleepy toddler cuddles to make the 5 a.m. wake-ups worth it (for the record, I would also be totally okay with 7am cuddles...)
Your body isn't broken—even if it needs help sometimes.
Cult documentaries forever.
Staying focused, calm & steady during intense, stressful situations (thanks, ADHD)

Jillian's approach is evidence-based, trauma-informed and consent-aware. As the non-pregnant partner, I wasn't sure what to expect, but from the very beginning, Jillian helped me feel at ease and involved every step of the way.
